How the Pingg-String® Barrier Works
The Pingg-String device puts a special electrical impulse on wires that form the barrier. When a possum encounters the wires it discovers that this is highly unpleasant and avoids repeating the experience. Very quickly, the possum chooses to stay well clear of the wires. By suitable placement of this barrier you can eliminate your possum problems.
Important: This is not the same as a farm electric fence. It will not harm any birds, animals, possums or people. The electrical impulse is simply like strong static electricity.

Fence & Roof Barrier
Choose this kit to stop possums using your fence as a thoroughfare or climbing into your garden from off your fence. If you want to protect plants adjacent to a fence, then place this barrier on top of the fence for a few meters either side of the plants. If you want to keep possums out of your garden totally, then place this barrier around the full fence-line perimeter.
This barrier is also designed for attachment to buildings. If possums are using your roof as a thoroughfare, then install this barrier across the roof area to break their passage. If possums are reaching your roof across the household power cable then attach this barrier to the roof gutter to break their path.
This barrier is quite versatile and can be installed on a variety of structures, including: timber, brick, masonry, metal, etc. Steel brackets are secured at up to 2.5m apart. These brackets support three fine wires which form the Pingg-String Fence Barrier. Viewed from a distance, the barrier is virtually invisible.
Ground Barrier
Choose this kit to stop possums at ground level. Possums may come down to ground level in order to feed on your plants. Use this kit anywhere that you need to restrict access at ground level. For example, vegetable plots, garden beds, around aviaries & ponds.
Fibreglass posts are placed at up to 2.5m apart. These posts support five fine wires which form the Pingg-String Ground Barrier.
Mains Powered Kits
In most situations a kit using a mains powered Pingg-String energizer is the best choice. Its running cost is very low, at about $1/month. You must have an outdoor power point. If the distance from your power point to the Pingg-String barrier is more than 2m, then purchase our Lead-Out Cable to link the energizer to barrier wire. However, if this distance is more than 15m then the solar powered energizer may be more practical.

Solar Powered Kits
The advantage of a solar powered Pingg-String energizer is that it can be installed right at the barrier, almost anywhere. This simplifies installation by eliminating the need for cabling from the barrier to a power outlet.
The solar powered energizer will work anywhere in Australia no matter what the weather conditions, time of day, or time of year. Unlike other solar products, such as garden lights which may cease to function on the first cloudy day, the energizer is engineered to keep operating. For our International customers you might like to check this Sunshine Map to ensure that the solar model will work in your location.
Important: You must locate the solar powered energizer at a position which receives full uninterrupted sunlight from 9am to 3pm. In Australia, the solar panel must face northward.
