FAQ Pingg-String Cat Barrier

Why do you not sell radio collars for cats?

A few customers have purchased our dog radio collar system for their cats. The collars are certainly small and light weight. However, from an animal welfare point of view Sureguard do not recommend collar systems for cats. The problem is one of training. Dogs receives some initial training in order to elicit the right back off behaviour. This is a vital step in containing the dog. When the dog feels the correction for the first time the dog automatically backs away from the boundary because of this initial training and continues this behaviour in future. Cats cannot be trained in the same way as dogs. For this reason cats may exhibit signs of helplessness, not understanding what the warning sound means. They may sit there and take the correction. They may go and hide or be reluctant to move around.

Sureguard's alternative is Pingg-String system. No expensive collars are needed. No training. No chance of your cat escaping. We have manufactured this system for over ten years, and people rave about the system!
