Frequently Asked Questions...
Q: Is this cat barrier difficult to install?
A: No special skill is needed. Installation is straightforward and easy. The only tool you'll need is something to cut the wire and possibly a hammer & screwdriver.
Q: How do I handle two separated areas?
A: Purchase a Starter Kit together with whatever accessories are needed to finish the required length. Refer to the Accessories Section. You can connect a Ground Barrier to a Fence Barrier & build all sorts of combinations. Different sections are joined using the special Pingg-String Lead-Out Cable.
Q: Is it safe around children?
A: It is safe for cats and people. If you touch a single wire then you'll feel little or nothing. However, your cat receives an unpleasant sensation because of pressing against two wires simultaneously.
Q: Will it work for kittens, small cats & large cats?
A: Yes, you can expect the same results with all sized cats.
Q: Why can't the cat jump the wires?
A: All cats will take the easy option of pushing between the wires. As they do this they experience the correction and retreat. Your cat will feel apprehensive about going anywhere near the wires. Hence, your cat won't attempt to jump the barrier.
Q: Once my cat is controlled can I remove the barrier?
A: No. When your cat sees the wires, it remembers what can happen and therefore stays away from the wires. We do not recommend switching the energizer off because your cat may test or encounter the wires in future. Your cat must always receive a correction when touching the wires.
Q: What if my neighbours object to the barrier being fitted to the fence?
A: The Fence Barrier is usually installed at the top of the fence. However, to conceal the barrier, it can be installed on the side of the fence. The steel brackets which support the wires can be bent at any angle from 0° to 90° inwards.
Q: Can the barrier be secured to any sort of fence?
A: Yes. The brackets which support the Pingg-Wire are usually attached to the existing fence posts. You can secure to timber, metal & concrete posts. The type of fencing material used between the posts is unimportant.
