Each State and Territory in Australia has its own laws covering animal welfare. Some Satae Laws place restrictions on the use, or method of use, of certain electronic boundary fences with regard to domestic animals. The following excepts are for your information, and are not to be understood as legal advise.
- For Qld residents:

No specific restrictions found. - For NSW residents:
Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act 1979 - 2000 Amendment
Regarding the Sureguard Radio Containment Collar and Pingg-String devices, you may use these barriers provided that it be: "...used inside a fence through which animals cannot pass and that is not less than 1.5m high." - For Vic residents:
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Regulation 1986 - 2008 Amendment
The Pingg-String is not specifically regulated by law in this State.
You may use an authorized electronic collar, provided: 1/ the dog is over 6 months of age, 2/ the collar is not left on for more than 12 hour per day, 3/ a veterinary practitioner has examined the physical health and temperament of the dog and reasonably believes that the dog is suitable to have an authorized electronic collar used on it. 4/ the dog has been trained to to use the containment system (Sureguard provides instructions and has a competent trainer on staff). - For WA residents:
Animal Welfare Act 2002.
The Pingg-String is not specifically regulated by law in this State. Regarding the Sureguard Radio Collar: Must be used in accordance with the generally accepted usage for the type of "invisible fence". - For SA residents:
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Regulations 1985 - 2000 Amendments
The Pingg-String is not specifically regulated by law in this State. Regarding the Sureguard Radio Collar: A person must not place on an animal a collar designed to impart an electric shock. - For ACT residents:
ACT Animal Welfare Act 1992 - 2001 Amendments.
The Pingg-String and Radio Collar are not allowed. - For NT residents:
Animal Welfare Act 1999 - 2005.
Unless authorised by a law in force in the Territory, a person must not use an electrical device on an animal. - For Tas residents:
Animal Welfare Act 1993. (under review)
